No fancy pictures today, just a bit of ramblings. So I have been working on getting the garden ready to plant. Running into some sources of frustration though. We have been talking about the "Back to Eden" philosophy of gardening. I'm not going to go to in depth about it, so if you are interested check out http://www.backtoedenfilm.com for more info. The basic premise is to garden with some form of ground covering. This helps retain moisture in the soil, attracts worms and bugs, and makes weeding much simpler. So with that in mind I have been contacting numerous tree service companies looking for some chipped trees, like trucks loads of it. These companies have to pay to dump this stuff, so I figured a free place to dump would be a no brainier. This is proving rather difficult. So, having to get the garden in, I need a covering.
I have decided to start out using leaves as our ground cover. I figure I have plenty of those laying around out in the woods. I will be loading and moving wheelbarrows full of leaves back and forth for a while over the next few weeks. Onto frustration number two. The weather is not cooperating at all. It is supposed to be raining off and on for the next three days, so shoveling wet leaves in the rain does not sound like my idea of fun. However, since I don't have a shredder, which I have read are not that great anyways, I will be using the line trimmer to shred them up. That on the other hand, does sound like fun.
Well, I suppose that is it for me for tonight. Heading off to an outdoorsmans meeting, where we have good food, good fellowship, and hear a great message.
God bless.
